Just Shelve It: Knowing When to Replace Your Shelves

In your busy business it’s always important to have a shelving unit you can trust. You want a unit which can stand the test of time, one on which you can securely place all of your products in safe and easy-to-reach locations for quick access during your working hours. You want to know that your shelving unit will allow you to move swiftly and safely through your warehouse without fear of tripping over something.

So what reasons could you possibly have for replacing your trusty unit?

You Can No Longer Fit Your Products On the Shelves

It’s great when your business starts to expand, or when you find your stock has suddenly become very popular and you have to buy in more products to satisfy your customers demands.

The problem here lies in your storage. You want to make sure your warehouse is a safe and efficient work place for your employees, so when you start to find there’s no room left on your shelves it’s time to take a look at a more space efficient shelving unit for your warehouse.

At The Shelving Centre we supply a range of shelving units for optimum efficiency in your warehouse. From Longspan Shelving to Pallet Racking, no matter what you want, we’re sure to have a shelving unit to suit you.

Your Shelves are Showing Signs of Wear and Tear

Your shelves suffer every day. If the elements haven’t gotten to your shelving unit after years of use, then your products have.

Heavy products are placed on and taken off regularly, and over the years, if not properly taken care of, your shelves can show the tell-tale signs of wear and tear. When this happens, shelving units can weaken. At this point, unfortunately, it only takes one slightly too heavy load for a shelf to collapse. If your employees have miraculously escaped unscathed, then the products you’ve so carefully been stacking haven’t.

To prevent such accidents from occurring, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on dents and bends in your shelving unit, and on shaky shelves and rusting joints. If you can’t ensure they can be securely fixed, then it’s probably a good idea to look into replacing them altogether.
